For the big gap between roof level and the black "space" stuff... What I tend to do is slope the black stuff down to the tile's ceiling, rather than extending vertical walls up to it. That makes it much cleaner, easier to build/play with.

Dunno if it's of any interest but I intend to do a volcanic magma-filled version of my Deep Dungeon tileset at a later date.

Oh, and I figured I would mention, I would absolutely LOVE to see someone make a proper spiky crystal cavern type tileset.
