At last!
I think I finally got this one right, for now. How's this look?

While the seams don't show anymore, that blurry streak does stand out, a little. Looks much better in-game. Finally satisfied enough to move on. Phew! Maybe once I get better at this I can fix it up more or use a different mdl. But for now, I can finally relax...

How would this look, rising out of a storm cloud or something? Jim Fitzpatrick, one of my heroes...

Great job fixing that seam!
Truly, that was masterful work fixing that seam! I knew you could do it.:thumb:
I like that transformation image you've got there, too. Probably the best type of skybox to use that sort of monster in would be a hellscape-style or lower-planar style one... similar to what you've got going on with your "Abyss" skybox. It might even make a good extra to throw into the Abyss skybox, a bit of a good distance away from the Baphomet image. That way, you'd have a couple demons poking their heads through the dark clouds of the Abyss to freak players out. It would, of course, take some blending to work it in... but it would provide some impressive shock value. :icon_idea:

Nursing my PC back to health...
I feel like I've been gone for weeks. Did anyone miss me? :p
Seems the last few weeks of summer heat and working with huge graphics files were enough to push my PC over the edge. After multiple lock-ups, I watched it die a slow death to the point where my PC wouldn't even boot last week. It turns out I fried a memory board. It's not a good idea to place the memory slots right next to the CPU heatsink. At least it wasn't the hard drive, like I had originally feared. I hadn't backed up any of this stuff. My PC is now sporting some fine new cooling gear and extra fans, and new memory boards w/heatsinks are on the way.
As for skyboxes, I've been dabbling with some new ideas. While searching for different moon images to use, I found NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day
There's some incredible images on there, and useful bits like the Lunar Eclipses. I noticed most of this stuff seems to be copyrighted, so I don't want to go crazy with it. I'm sure my tax dollars helped pay for that web site somehow, though.
I've got to make something with this picture next, with stars and galaxies filling the rest of the sky around it:

"A beautiful Earth out tonight"
Nothing's ever perfect. The mesh I've been using seems to be distorting the Earth. I've tried stretching the image, but I may just leave it alone at this point. There's more stars visible from this angle, but I zoomed in for the "Moon surface" effect. Looks pretty good with the Underdark tileset. All I need now is an American flag or a lunar lander placeable.

This is the back side. I like the way this turned out.

Someone was asking about skyboxes with blue gas giants, and when I found this x-ray image of the sun, I couldn't resist.
It's about as blue and gaseous as it gets:
